FRENCH WAFFLES 
1/2 lb. butter
3/4 lb. brown sugar
5 c. flour
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tbsp. rum or whiskey (optional)

Soften butter. Add brown sugar and cream. Add eggs and flavoring and mix well. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and nuts. Mix well. Roll in small balls and bake in waffle iron. Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cool.
