APPLE PANDOWDY | |
1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 3 tbsp. butter 7 c. (about 6-7 med. apples) peeled, cored, sliced green apples 2 1/2 c. biscuit mix 1 egg 1/2 c. light cream Sugar Combine brown sugar with cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Place half the sliced apples in casserole, top with brown-sugar crumbs. Add remaining apples, heaping them high. Combine biscuit mix with egg beaten with light cream. Knead a few times on lightly floured board to form a smooth ball. Cut off dough about the size of an egg and reserve for decoration. Roll out remaining dough, cut out shape of apple, stem and 2 leaves. |
