BEEFY SPANISH RICE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 minced garlic
1 green pepper, chopped
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 1/2 c. water
1 c. uncooked rice
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. basil
2 tbsp. tomato paste

Brown ground beef, onion, garlic and pepper until meat is done. Stir in water, tomatoes, rice and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is tender. Stir in tomato paste. Serve with french bread or cornbread.

Serves: 4 to 6.
