GRANDMA G'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE &
MEATBALLS
 
MEATBALLS:

3 lb. ground beef
1 tbsp. Parmesan cheese
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
1 egg
1/2 c. bread or saltine crumbs
2 tbsp. oil

SAUCE:

2 qt. home canned tomatoes
1 (3 oz.) can tomato paste
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. fresh or dry parsley
Touch of basil if desired

Mix together meat, cheese, onion, egg and crumbs. Shape into large golf ball size balls. Brown meat in oil in skillet transfer to large Dutch oven. Add tomatoes and paste to meatballs. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 4 hours, stir occasionally. During last hour add sugar, parsley and basil continue to simmer. Serve with your favorite pasta.
