SALISBURY STEAK 
1 lb. ground chuck
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
1/4 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. water
1 sm. can mushrooms

Mix beef, 1/4 of soup mix, crumbs, milk, and egg. Shape to make patties. Brown in hot shortening, quickly on each side. Drain off fat. Add rest of soup mix and flour, then gradually stir in water and mushrooms. Cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.
