DEVIL DOGS 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. hot water
1/2 c. cocoa
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder

Add 1 teaspoon vinegar to milk to make it sour. Cream shortening and sugar and then add eggs. Beat well. Mix together sour milk and hot water. Add dry ingredients and water mixture and blend well. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Ice tops or use filling below to put two together like a sandwich.

FILLING:

1/2 c. shortening
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar (1 box)
3/4 tsp. salt
4 to 6 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Can use food coloring to change filling color for different holidays.
