PLAIN BREAD PUDDING | |
2 c. scalded milk 1 c. stale bread crumbs 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring 1 egg 2 tbsp. sugar 1/8 tsp. salt Soak crumbs in milk until soft, then add the butter. Beat egg slightly, add sugar, salt and flavoring; mix thoroughly. Then add to hot mixture. Pour into a well greased baking dish and bake in a moderate oven for 30-45 minutes at 350 degrees. VANILLA SAUCE FOR PUDDING: 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. butter Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add water slowly and boil 5 minutes. Remove from stove, add butter and flavoring. Serve hot or cold. |
