1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
5 tbsp. oil
1 c. cold water

To 1 1/2 cups sifted flour, add the sugar, soda, salt and cocoa. Sift together dry ingredients then place mixture in a small greased loaf pan. Make 3 dents in the top of the mixture. In the first dent, place 1 teaspoon vinegar; in the second dent, place 1 teaspoon vanilla; in the third dent, place 5 tablespoons oil. Put 1 cup of cold water over this and mix well. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. May be mixed in a bowl and then put in a greased pan. Use double recipe and put in a tube pan. Bake longer than above. When done, cool, remove from pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
