2 c. sugar
1/2 c. white corn syrup
1/2 c. water
Place in saucepan over low heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Cook to 252 degrees or hard ball stage. Remove from heat and pour, beating constantly, in a fine stream into 2 egg whites that have been stiffly beaten. Continue beating until the mixture holds its shape and loses its gloss. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 c. broken nuts. Drop quickly onto wax paper in individual peaks. Remember candy does not set unless the barometer reads 30 or over. It does not make any difference if it's raining or not. Just watch for barometric pressure readings of 30 or more.
