FAMILY FAVORITE COOKIES
COOKIE DOUGH:

3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter or shortening
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

FROSTING:

6 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2-3 tbsp. water

Cookie Dough: Cream sugars and shortening together. Add eggs and then sour cream. Mix the baking soda, baking powder and salt with the flour. Add the dry ingredients to the other mixture. Add nuts last. Bake at 350 degrees until the cookies are light brown; approximately 12 minutes.

Frosting: Burn the butter to golden brown. Pour into powdered sugar. Add boiling water to make a smooth paste. Add vanilla. Spread onto cooled cookies.

Shortening is okay for the cookie dough but real butter works best for the frosting.
