CANNED APPLE PIE FILLING 
4 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. cornstarch
3 tbsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
10 c. water
3 tbsp. lemon juice
6-8 tart apples, peeled and sliced

In large pan mix sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Add water, cook and stir over medium heat until bubbles and thickens. Remove from heat. Add the lemon juice.

Pack hot quart jars with apple slices. Leave 1 inch space at top of jar. Fill jars with hot syrup. Process in hot water 15 minutes. Makes 6 quarts.
