MOLASSES COOKIES 
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. molasses
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 5 tbsp. boiling water
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
3/4 c. raisins
frosting

Blend sugar and shortening. Add eggs and molasses and mix. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water. Mix. Add flour, cinnamon, cloves and raisins. Mix well.

Bake at 350°F for approximately 7 minutes. Frost while warm.

I was very sceptical but just excluded the cloves, baked 10 min in my gas oven and frosted..very good, I will make these this winter for sure! I also made the extra batter in a cake pan... its like a molasses brownie.. yumm and the house smells marvelous!

They were the best molasses cookies I've ever had, so fluffy and soft... They were the best! I cooked mine for 10 minutes and turned out perfect at 350°F.
