NANAIMO BARS 
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. cocoa
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. chopped nuts

2ND LAYER:

1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
2 tbsp. instant vanilla pudding mix
3 tbsp. milk
2 c. powdered sugar

3RD LAYER:

3 sq. semi-sweet chocolate
1 tbsp. butter

In a saucepan, heat together butter, sugar and cocoa, stirring until smooth and butter is melted. Add egg and vanilla and remove from heat. Add crumbs, coconut and nuts and spread evenly in a buttered 8 or 9 inch square pan. Place in refrigerator.

For second layer, cream butter and pudding mix. Add milk alternately with powdered sugar. Spread over first layer and chill until firm.

For topping, melt together chocolate and butter in a small pan. Spread over second layer. Just before topping is set, cut into about one inch squares. Keep squares small, as a person can't eat but small portions of the mixture.
