EGGLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 c. sugar
2 c. sifted cake flour
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. water
2 tbsp. grape jelly
1 c. mayonnaise
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix dry ingredients; add the remaining ingredients which have been well blended. Mix with an electric mixer for about 1 minute. If done by hand, stir until all blended. Bake in layer pans in 350 degree oven about 30 minutes. May be baked in loaf pan.

FROSTING:

1 lb. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening (part butter)
2 oz. melted chocolate
1 tsp. lemon juice
Juice of 1 orange
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Cream shortening and add half of sugar, add melted chocolate and lemon juice. Beat until smooth, add other half of sugar, plus vanilla. Add only enough orange juice to make right consistency to spread. Then add chopped nuts.
