ITALIAN PIZZA BREAD | |
1 pkg. dry yeast 1/4 c. warm water 1 c. pizza sauce 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. dry minced onion 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar 1 egg, beaten 1 tsp. Italian seasoning mix 2 3/4 c. bread flour Dissolve yeast in warm water. In saucepan warm pizza sauce and baking soda. Then add onion, cheese, butter, salt, sugar and seasoning mix. Heat and stir until cheese melts. Cool to lukewarm. Add beaten egg and dissolved yeast. Stir in half the flour and mix well. Then stir in remaining flour. Turn onto floured board and knead 5 minutes. Place in 9x5 inch greased bread pan. Brush top with melted butter (sprinkle with sesame seeds). Cover and let rise in a warm place 30 to 45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from pan, brush with butter. (If necessary cover with foil the last 10 minutes of baking to avoid overbrowning.) |
