CARAMEL BARS 
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. light corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. butterscotch-flavored chips
1 1/2 to 2 c. assorted candies and nuts (such as M&M'S® and salted peanuts)

Heat oven to 350°F. Mix brown sugar, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour. Press evenly into bottom of ungreased pan (13 x 9 x 2).

Bake 20 to 22 minutes or until brown. Cool 20 minutes. Heat corn syrup, 2 tablespoons butter and butterscotch chips in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until chips melt. Remove from heat. Cool 10 minutes.

Spread butterscotch mixture over baked layer. Sprinkle 1/2 the bars with candy and the remaining 1/2 with nuts. Gently press into butterscotch mixture. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours or until butterscotch is firm. Cut into 6 rows by 6 rows.
