THANKSGIVING TURKEY | |
1 (8-15 lbs.) turkey 3 sticks butter Cheesecloth Aluminum foil Salt and pepper Remove giblets from inside of turkey. Wash out bird and pat dry with paper towels. Salt and pepper inside of turkey and add 1 stick of butter. Stuff turkey, if desired. Melt the remaining 2 sticks of butter and dip the cheesecloth in it. Wrap the turkey well with the cloth and then wrap in foil. Place wrapped turkey breast, side up in a shallow roasting pan. Roast at 300°F to 350°F at 20 minutes per pound. Use any remaining melted butter to baste the turkey as it cooks. One hour before removing the turkey from oven, pull open the foil and cut open the cheesecloth and allow turkey to brown. |
