MOM'S PEAS AND DUMPLINGS 
2 qt. fresh or frozen peas
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 qt. water
1 tsp. sugar
1 onion
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. pepper

Cook peas in salted water with diced onion, butter, sugar and pepper until tender. Do not drain. Turn down to a slow boil and add dumpling mixture with spoon.

Drop Dumpling Mix:

1 1/4 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. chopped parsley
1 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add parsley and milk all at once and stir rapidly until blended. Drop by teaspoonful into pea stew, boiling slowly. Cover and boil for 12 minutes without uncovering.

Serves 6 to 8.
