Whole Wheat American Chop Suey

I used this recipe with less sugar (1/4 c.) and it was still too sweet. Good recipe, but where a lot of canned tomatoes already include sugar in the ingredients I think sugar here actually hurts the dish. Just my opinion though, and hey, if you've got a sweet tooth this is THE american chop suey for you.

My mom prepared this for us growing up, the sugar definitely wasn't part of her recipe, but without it, this is just like her recipe. Great dish for cold weather.

I made this recipe and my husband and I loved it. I omitted the tomato paste and the sugar and added celery. It was fantastic!

Made this with Rigatoni and used organic beef - the simple, sweet recipe allows the flavor of the beef to come out, so buy the best-tasting ground meat and tomatoes you can find. Delicious - my fussy five-year-old even eats it! Will make this again.
