BASIC SWEET ROLL | |
3/4 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 3 eggs 5 1/2 c. flour Grated rind of 1 lemon 2 pkg. dry yeast 1 1/4 c. milk 1 tsp. salt Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, salt and lemon. Heat milk to lukewarm and dissolve yeast in it. Combine creamed mixture, flour and yeast and milk; knead dough by hand until smooth and elastic. It will pull away from bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk. Toss on board and form into sweet rolls, or braids or Cinnamon Kuchen. Braids: Divide dough into 3 parts. Divide each part in 3 and braid. Put on greased tin and let rise until double again. Brush with egg. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. |
