GERMAN SKILLET SUPPER | |
1 tbsp. butter 1/3 med. head cabbage, washed & shredded 1 med. onion, chopped 2/3 c. uncooked long grain rice 1 lb. very lean ground beef (uncooked, crumbled) 2 cans (8 oz. each) tomato sauce Salt & pepper to taste Melt butter in large, deep skillet (or Dutch oven). Spread cabbage and onion over bottom of pan. Layer rice and ground beef. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Pour tomato sauce over all. Cover and cook over low heat 30-35 minutes, without lifting cover, until rice is tender and meat cooked through. Makes 6 servings. |
