DEBRA'S BARK | |
Tastes like English Toffee! 1-2 pkgs. saltine crackers (enough to cover baking sheet) 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 cup (2 sticks) butter 12 to 16 oz. milk chocolate morsels 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (or a mixture of both) non-stick cooking spray (Pam or other brand) Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with Pam. Place saltine crackers on the baking sheet, being sure to cover the entire surface (sometimes I have to break saltines in half to be sure to cover every inch of space). Melt the two sticks of butter and add brown sugar. Bring to a boil stirring constantly with a wooden or melamine spoon for exactly 3 minutes. Remove from heat and pour evenly over saltine crackers. Softly spread quickly with back of stirring spoon. Place sheet into preheated 400°F oven. Bake crackers, brown sugar/butter mixture at 400°F for exactly 7 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle milk chocolate morsels over the entire top of cracker/brown sugar mixture. Let the morsels stand for 2 minutes so that they can melt. With the back side of a large spoon, spread chocolate evenly over the entire cracker/brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle nuts on top, pressing lightly into chocolate. Place baking sheet in freezer for 1 to 2 hours. Cut into medium-sized pieces with a large heavy knife, or simply break into irregular pieces. Submitted by: Debra Artigliere - Port Orange, FL |
