HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 lb. hamburger (may use ground turkey)
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. diced potatoes
1 c. sliced carrots
1 c. shredded cabbage
1 c. diced celery
4 c. tomatoes
1/4 c. rice
3 c. water
2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. sweet basil
1/4 tsp. thyme
Bay leaf, if desired

Brown hamburger and onion. Add other ingredients. Simmer 1 hour.

NOTE: May substitute 1/4 cup barley for the rice and potatoes.
