1 c. shortening
1 2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream or plain yogurt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. grated orange rind
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately with sour cream or yogurt.

Drop by heaping teaspoons on lightly greased sheet. Bake 350 degrees. This recipe can also be used for cut-out cookies by adding enough flour to roll.
