BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
1 stick butter
2 1/2 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. lemon flavor
2 tbsp. hot water
1 c. buttermilk

Sift sugar and flour three each. Cream sugar and shortening with hot water. Add eggs, one at a time. Add flour and baking soda and mix in alternately with milk. Add flavor last.

Bake at 325°F for 1 hour and 15 to 25 minutes.

Glaze:

1 cup sugar
juice of 2 lemons, fresh

Heat 1 cup sugar and juice of 2 fresh lemons and make syrup.
