1 1/2 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
2 c. applesauce
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. nuts
5 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. chocolate chips
3 c. rolled oats

Mix applesauce with soda. Mix shortening, eggs, and sugar; add applesauce mixture. Then add flour and spices that have been sifted together. Add nuts, chocolate chips and oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
