GOLD BARS 
3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 c. rolled oats, any kind
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter, butter or oil
2 tbsp. lemon juice (opt.)
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Combine all ingredients except nuts in a large bowl and mix well by hand. Stir in nuts; pour into well greased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes. While warm, cut into bars. Yield: 20 (2 1/2 x 3 inch) bars.
