SUGAR COOKIES | |
1 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. shortening (butter) 2 eggs, well beaten 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla Tinted frosting, Fondant frosting, raisin, colored sugar (optional) 3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy; beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift in flour, baking powder and salt; blend well. Pat into a ball; wrap in foil; chill until firm. Divide into fourths. Work with 1/4 at a time, refrigerating the remainder. Roll out to desired thickness for various sizes and shapes of cookies. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake in preheated 375 degree oven until edges are golden, about 5 to 7 minutes. Cool slightly before removing to wire rack. Decorate as desired. May be cut with cutters or knife. Picture cutouts may be pasted on with Fondant Frosting. About 4 dozen cookies. |
