SOUTHERN PECAN FINGERS 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour, sifted
2 c. chopped pecans

Set oven at 325 degrees. Cream butter until soft. Gradually add sugar, cream until light and fluffy. Blend in water and vanilla. Combine flour and nuts. Add gradually to creamed mixture. Mix thoroughly. Flour hands lightly break small pieces of dough and shape like a finger. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet and bake 25 or 30 minutes. While still warm, roll in powdered sugar.

This recipe has been in our family for over 40 years. It is a favorite cookie of ours and our friends.

These are even better if after they cool, instead of rolling in powdered sugar, drizzle almond bark and chocolate bark on them.

My mom got this recipe out of the Milwaukee Sentinel back in 1955. The only difference is instead of the granulated sugar, she used 1/4 c. powdered sugar and her recipe called for 2 cups ground pecans. I have made these every Christmas since 1971 and they are a family favorite.
