GINGER BREAD 
1 c. sour cream
1 c. molasses (syrup)
1 1/3 tsp. baking soda
2 1/3 c. flour (plain)
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tbsp. salt
4 tbsp. Crisco shortening

Add soda to sour cream mix and stir until well mixed. Add syrup, then add flour sifted with salt and ginger. Add melted shortening, mix well. Pour into greased pan. Bake in moderate oven about 30 minutes.

VANILLA SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar

Cook sugar, flour and water until thick. Add butter, vinegar and vanilla. This may be used by adding cocoa. Cook until thick. Pour over ginger bread while still hot.
