APPLE BETTY | |
6 tart apples (6 c.) Grated peel & juice of 1 lemon, optional 1/3 c. water 2 c. soft bread crumbs 1/3 c. sugar & 1/3 c. packed light brown sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tbsp. butter Combine apples, lemon peel & juice and water. Combine bread crumbs, sugars and cinnamon. Alternate layers of crumbs and apple mixtures in 2 quart greased glass casserole, starting and ending with crumbs. Dot with butter. Cover and bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 minutes longer or until apples are tender and crumbs are browned. |
