BAKED CHOCO-COVERED CHERRIES 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
36-48 maraschino cherries, well drained (half a 10 oz. jar)

Cream butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Add remaining dry ingredients and blend. Dough will be stiff. Chill.

FROSTING:

1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips (6 oz. pkg.)
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)

Shape chocolate dough into 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Push one cherry halfway into each ball. Frost immediately by placing 1/2 teaspoon frosting over cherry. (Frosting will spread over cookie during baking.) Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Store tightly covered.
