FRUIT COCKTAIL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (#303 - 16 oz.) can fruit cocktail
3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Sift together dry ingredients, make hole and add egg and vanilla and fruit cocktail juice and all. Mix gently with a big spoon, pour in greased and floured 11 3/4 x 7 3/8 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or for 30-35 minutes for glass pan.

ICING:

Combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk. Cook for 2 minutes after it boils. Set off heat, add 1/2 cup chopped nuts and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Let cool before putting on cake.
