OLD FASHION SUGAR COOKIES 
Bet together for 2 minutes:

1/2 c. butter
1 egg, unbeaten
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla (or 1/2 tsp. nutmeg)

Add:

1/2 c. sour cream

Sift in:

3 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Dough improves if chilled before folding out. Roll out on lightly sugared or floured surface to 1/4 inch thick (I do mine slightly thicker) cut and sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake at 425 degrees until light brown - about 6 minutes.

FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter (beaten until light)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. milk
5/8 lb. powdered sugar
Dash of salt

Beat until light.
