ICE CREAM SANDWICHES 
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. devils food cake mix
1/2 gallon brick ice cream

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Beat egg, shortening, butter, vanilla and half of cake mix until smooth. Stir in remaining cake mix and blend well. Divide dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each part out separately on a floured surface. Cut cookie rounds with large (3 1/2 to 4 inch) cookie cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet; prick surfaces of cookies lightly with fork. Bake 6 to 8 minutes. Cool.

Make ice cream patties with cookie cutter and place between 2 cookies. Freeze at least 24 hours. Makes 16 sandwiches.
