ORANGE ALMOND CAKE 
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. milk
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 or 2 tsp. grated orange peel
1/2 tsp. orange extract
1/3 c. soft shortening

Grease and four 9 inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees until done.

Put all ingredients in mixing bowl and beat on low speed of electric mixer 30 seconds, while scraping bowl. Beat 3 minutes on high speed. Pour into pan and sprinkle with sliced almonds. After baking sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar and 2 teaspoons rum, brandy or Grand Marnier.
