EASY FILLED DATE COOKIES 
FILLING:

2 c. chopped dates
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. water
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Cook on stove, stirring until thickened.

COOKIE:

1 c. soft shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Place on ungreased tin by the teaspoon. Pat in center with floured spoon. Drop filling in center and cover with a little more cookie dough.
