BAKED APPLES 
4 med. baking apples, cored
1/2 c. Karo corn syrup (light or dark)
1/4 c. butter, melted
1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

Starting from stem end, peel apples 1/3 of the way down; place in 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish. In bowl, stir together corn syrup, butter, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg; spoon over apples. (May add chopped walnuts.) Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, basting often.
