LENTIL SOUP 
3-5 soup bones
1 c. lentils, washed and strained
6 c. water
1 tbsp. butter
1 onion
Bacon or frankfurters
1 c. pasta shells (sm. size)
Salt and pepper to taste

Bring water, soup bones, and salt and pepper to boil. Lower heat and add lentils. Cook covered for one hour. Put in uncooked bacon or frankfurters. Ten minutes later add pasta and cook for 20 minutes uncovered.

While pasta is cooking in mixture, chop onion and saute in butter until brown, then add to soup and cook the remainder of the 20 minutes. Turn off heat and let soup settle for 5 minutes. Bon apetit!
