BANANA NUT BREAD 
2/3 c. Crisco
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/1/4 c. ripe mashed bananas
2/3 c. nuts, chopped
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. buttermilk
2 eggs

Sift dry ingredients. Add bananas and half the buttermilk; mix until all the flour is damp. Beat vigorously for 2 minutes. Add Crisco, remaining buttermilk and eggs; beat 2 minutes and fold in nuts.

Bake in two loaf pans or one tube or bundt pan at 350 degrees for one hour or until done. Cool on rack.

May be baked in two round 9 inch pans. Pans should be greased and floured. Cake can be iced with sour cream icing. I prefer the un-iced loaves or bundt.
