GERMAN CHOCOLATE - CARAMEL BARS 
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
2/3 c. evaporated milk, separated
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
3/4 c. melted butter
1 pkg. caramels (approximately 40-50)
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Mix together cake mix, chopped nuts, butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Spread half of mix in a greased 9x13 inch oblong pan. Bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees.

Melt together caramels and the remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the baked crust. Drizzle the caramel mixture over the chocolate chips. Spoon the remaining cake mix, in small "clumps, " over top. Return to oven and bake 15 minutes longer. Remove and chill before cutting.
