KENTUCKY BUTTER CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter, sugar and blend in eggs one at a time. Combine buttermilk and vanilla. Add alternately with dry ingredients. Blend well. Turn into tube pan greased and buttered. Bake at 375 degrees for 60-65 minutes. Run spatula along edge and stem of pan. Prick cake with fork or ice pick. Pour hot sauce over cake.

SAUCE FOR KENTUCKY BUTTER CAKE:

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. butter

Heat until butter melts. Do not boil. Add vanilla.
