1 box animal crackers
1 pkg. semi sweet chocolate bits
1 tbsp. vegetable shortening (do not use butter)

Melt chocolate bits and shortening in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until smooth. Dip animal crackers into chocolate and lift out with a fork. Place on waxed paper to harden.
