CHEDDAR CHEESE PUFFS | |
6 oz. cream cheese 1/2 lb. butter 1/2 lb. extra sharp Cheddar cheese 1 tsp. dry mustard 4 egg whites, beaten stiff 1 loaf unsliced white bread In medium saucepan, over low heat, melt Cheddar cheese, butter, cream cheese and mustard. Stir constantly. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Gently fold into stiffly beaten egg white. Trim crust from bread, slice into 1 inch thick slices, cut the slices into cubes. Using fork dip bread cubes into cheese mixture coating evenly, but not on bottoms. Place in plastic bag to store in freezer. When ready to serve: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place cubes on lightly greased pan. Bake frozen 10 to 12 minutes. Serve at once. |
