BUTTER POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter, softened
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
Grated lemon

In large bowl mix butter and sugar to blend. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Mix in alternating flour and milk. Stir in grated lemon. Pour mixture into a greased 10 inch tube pan. Heat oven 350 degrees. Bake for 55 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes and turn onto cake rack.
