NEW ORLEANS BREAD PUDDING 
1 loaf French bread, cut up
1 qt. milk
3 slightly beaten eggs
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. raisins
3 tbsp. melted butter

Soak the bread in milk in a large bowl for at least an hour. Crush the bread with your hands until well mixed with the milk. Add eggs, sugar, vanilla, and raisins. Stir.

Pour the butter in the bottom of a baking pan. Add bread mixture. Bake until very firm, approximately 1 hour, at 350 degrees. Let cool. Cube the pudding into individual dishes. When ready to serve heat under the broiler for 2-3 minutes. Serve warm.
