DATE AND NUT PINWHEELS 
3 c. chopped dates
1 c. sugar, white
1 c. water
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. Crisco
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Combine dates, sugar, and water; cook until thick. Add chopped nuts and cool. Cream shortening, brown sugar, and eggs until light. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Chill overnight.

Divide dough into 4 parts. Roll between wax paper. Spread date mixture over cookie dough. Roll up jelly roll style. Wrap in wax paper and place in freezer next day. Slice down and place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes.
