1 c. dates
1 c. nuts
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water

Cook together slowly about 20 to 25 minutes.

COOKIE DOUGH:

1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 c. white sugar
4 c. sifted flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix ingredients above, roll on floured board to 1/2 inch thick. Spread mixture, with filling. Roll like jelly roll. Store in refrigerator. Slice and bake 10 to 15 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees.
