12 slices "sandwich sliced" bread, trim crusts Butter 3/4 lb. cheddar cheese, grated 3/4 lb. monterey jack cheese, grated 3/4 lb. ham, diced 4 eggs 4 oz. can Ortega chopped chilies 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 c. Half & Half (I have used whole milk) Salt and pepper Butter both sides of 6 slices of bread. Place in bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Mix both cheeses together and sprinkle 2/3 (approximately 1 lb.) cheese over bread. Sprinkle ham on top next. Butter remaining 6 slices and place on top of ham and cheese. Use blender and mix eggs, chilies, Worcestershire sauce, Half & Half, salt and pepper until chilies are very small. Pour over bread. Sprinkle remaining cheese and place in refrigerator overnight. Take out of refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking. Bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees. |
