RED DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 c. flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. scalded & cooled milk

Combine shortening, salt, vanilla and soda. Add sugar gradually. Cream. Add 1 egg at a time, beating after each. Mix flour and cocoa and add alternately with milk, beating well. Bake in 2 x 9 inch greased and floured pans 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees. Frost with white or chocolate frosting.
